Andy Long's profile

SDC Website Redesign

I undertook a review of the existing site and wrote a proposal for funding the redesign of the site. I managed a team of a web editor and web manager; and commissioned a programmer and web designer. I managed user and stakeholder surveys; and the development of a new information architecture.
The organisation operated over four countries and what had been four sites needed to be brought into one consistent site that held with the brand. The departmental structure of the organisation was also changing, so the site needed to move beyond reflecting these internal structures. My aim was to make the site answer much more direct questions about the organisation and to show much more visual evidence of its work.
Structurally, the site needed to be hugely simplified and made practical for departments to manage their own content. I added a blog and more sharing links throughout the site. Unfortunately the organisation was shut down unexpectedly by a new government, so we never really got to employ these last two elements in the re-launched site.
